Exclamation ENTIRE Power System INOPERABLE - RESOLVED

2012 XF Portfolio: Was running perfectly, no error messages, etc. Drove to my son's house and turned the engine off, came out 30 seconds later and there was NO POWER, couldn't turn on the engine, interior lights not working, couldn't even open the glove box or trunk to view the battery compartment (did access it with the key). Is there a Main Fusible Link that might have blown?? If so, could you steer me to where it would be located?

How old is the battery? Any voltage reading?
That's the number one suspect when strange electrical stuff happens.

Forgot to mention that. I replaced the battery about 2 months ago. The only other thing that I have done recently is install a "ecoobd2" device that plugs into the OBD2 port and helps (supposedly) to improve fuel and emissions efficiency. It was installed into the OBD port about 150 miles ago. But had not had ANY indication that there was any problems since then (mechanical or electrical). Could that be the problem?? When the power went out I pulled that unit out, but didn't bring the power back on!

Poor/loose battery connections
Really need a voltmeter across the battery.

Problem solved! Embarrassed to admit that the ground line post connector was LOOSE! Pretty silly that I didn't open the trunk and check that before leaving my car and going to my birthday party! Thanks for the support!

No need to be embarrassed at all! You found the problem and fixed it plus you came back and closed the thread with a solution too.

I wish everyone would do that!
Congratulations on a free and easy repair. That does not happen often!

Thanks for posting the outcome. I've added RESOLVED to your thread title.

Although NOT the cause, it's worth remembering the OBD2 port is permanently 'live' and leaving devices attached for long periods can discharge the battery.
