Default Dashcam Power Location

Hi! Is it possible to use this accessory socket for a Dashcam on the 2010 XKR 5.0? Because i don‘t want to damage anything. Does it also record if the engine is not running ? Because it says it will discharge the battery..
Thanks !

The power outlet in the glove box as well as the one in the ash tray are both powered off when the ignition is turned off.

I think as long as you stick to a device rated for 12v DC and a draw of less than 10 A, what could be the issue?

The sockets actually stay live for a bit while the car is in convenience mode but will power off eventually. They power off immediately if you lock the car though.

I'd modify what's been said slightly, as I see a slightly different set of happenings on my 07 XKR.

The 12V point in the ashtray does stay live for some period of time after turning the ignition off. I've never watched it to see how long it stays active, but it does stay active. My ADU is plugged in there and does stay running after the car is shut off. I usually pull the usb adapter to shut it down.

The glovebox 12V point operates differently. It DOES shut off as the ignition is turned off (and start up with the ignition being turned on). I have a radar detector plugged in that point and it goes on and off with the ignition.

Since the OP has an 07, this may give a more accurate set of happenings for his car.
