Default Exactly what does Dynamic Mode do ?

Can notice shift point difference and mildly improved throttle response, is that it ? Any suspension dampening ? Braking improvement ?

Transmission will not upshift or downshift automatically if in dynamic and sport modes and you have manually shifted with a paddle. Otherwise you have pegged it. If your car has CATS (do any of the XFs have electronically adjustable shocks?) then the shock response is altered to improve handling.

No indications of electronically adjustable shocks. The owners manual is a bit short of any in depth information.

It makes things less automatic and leaves more responsibility to the driver for a more active driving experience. With the exception that it locks TracsDSC on to help protect the driver from himself. Description is below.

• Press button briefly to activate/deactivate
When active:
• TracDSC is automatically selected
• When Jaguar Sequential Shift is selected, up-shifts are fully controlled by the driver
• Selected gear displayed will change from white to amber as rev limiter is approached
• Cannot be active at the same time as ‘Winter mode’

What Executive said, I believe, was that it makes the car AWESOME to drive hard.

After reading this thread, I finally tried Dynamic Mode (after selecting S on the shifter). WOW. I thought I had a lot of power just switching from D to S. But the addition of Dynamic Mode really surprised me! I wouldn't drive it like that everywhere (it's pretty jumpy, so stop lights would be interesting...) but if you want to have some fun or need to drive in a "spirited" fashion, go for it.

I wish I knew more FACTS on each variant of each mode that is selected and which yeilds best results for what type of driving. An example would be, For 1/4 drag race this MODE will give you the best time. Or for a highway race use this combo of modes. Or if you wish to destroy 2 rear tires sitting still use this MODE. Things like that. These are just some examples.

I don't notice that much difference but haven't tried flooring it form a stop as am still breaking it in. However, I don't expect that much improvement from my n/a 5.0 L? Are you driving an "R" ?

No...(I wish I had an R). I have the 5.0 NA w/ 385 hp. Late yesterday afternoon I had a real chance to open the car up and play. Let's just say that I was going too fast and feel a little guilty about it this morning. The speed and power was addictive though. I had no issues going from 70 - 100 (or a bit higher) in 2-3 seconds.

I can also say that the brakes are very responsive at high speeds.

This is a dumb question, but is dynamic mode the flag button? Or is dynamic mode turned on when you turn track DSC on?

Yes. Once you press the button, it puts your in more control of the vehicle.

Once I hit 1k miles on the odometer I'll give her a go. I can certainly feel the HP but the car is a good deal heavier than I'm used to. Have an '07 C4S with Porsche's version of a Dynamic Mode button and difference is pretty dramatic on a 3300 lbs car with 355 HP. Wanted the Jag as a high creature comfort cruiser and it fills the bill perfectly and wasn't expecting so much sporting character.

Is that from the manual? Or maybe for 2012s? I ask because I thought you had to select TracDSC separately. At the R Performance Academy, they had us press both the Dynamic Mode button and DSC button (to go to TracDSC mode), as well as dial the transmission to Sport mode.

There may be detailed passages in the owner's manual laying out exactly what happens when the buttons are pressed, but I haven't really looked or found them. It would be useful to have that explicit info, such as "Dynamic Mode sharpens throttle response and tightens the dampers (on XFRs), but otherwise leaves all other parameters intact. If you want higher thresholds on DSC intervention, you need to select TracDSC. If you want to control upshifts, you must seperately select "S" on the transmission." Or something like that.

I just copied and pasted that over from another thread. I am not exactly sure, how it works.

That was pulled from Technical Training Course Guide. Attached is the whole section plus the Driving Dynamics section that should be in your Owner Handbook.

Cheers,
