Experience - Upper Pulley / Snout Reinstall / Material Removal
In my slow moving coolant pipe/plastics service, Supercharger service/upper pulley install I hit a snag today.
After cleaning up the snout to charger surface (brake cleaner worked fine), and applying anaerobic Permatex gasket maker I used a rubber mallet to secure the snout to the charger.
I quickly noticed I cannot spin the pulley or the supercharger rotors. I am almost positive this is due to using a rubber mallet on the pulley and forcing it on to the shaft just a little bit more, causing some interference with the snout. I already removed some material to get it to clear, apparently not enough.
Some quick observations for anyone doing this in the future.

- double check you have the clearance you need.
- Tape off the top of the charger to prevent any foreign material ingress. Even the smallest abrasive contaminant can mar the supercharger housing.
- I decided to clean up the excess gasket maker in the intake after installing by smoothing it out with my fingers. When applying, it won't look like you have out enough on. You more than likely have used plenty.
