Default External Door Handle Lock

I just purchased a 2009 XF Premium Luxury, I'm just curious to know if any 2009 XF have the external lock button because mine don't. Also, there is an option for the audible lock? But it doesn't seem to work? Any advise is appreciated!

Your model must be either the Luxury or the Premium model. Based on the absence of the external doors locks it looks as if it is the Luxury model which, I believe, did not come with the ability to open or lock the car with the fob in your pocket. In fact I think that the Jaguar Smart Key with Keyless entry was only available on the Premium and up. The Luxury was not available with that option (at least in the US). If it is a Luxury 2009 model, your engine would also be the 4.2 litre (300 bhp) and not the later 5.0 litre (385 bhp).

As I said this is for the US spec models and may not apply for other countries.

Hope this helps.

Default I may have lead you astray

Sorry I may have misinformed you. For the model year 2009 there was a Premium Luxury model. It was dropped for 2010 and became simply Premium. Also the 5.0 litre was added as standard for the Premium in 2010. The Luxury 2010 still had the 4.2 litre engine. For the 2009 model year there was a Luxury, Premium Luxury and Supercharged. All with the 4.2 litre engine, but supercharged for the SC model of course.

However for the 2009 Premium Luxury the Jaguar Smart Key and Keyless entry was an option whereas for the 2010 Premium it came as standard.

Sorry to confuse.

I just checked the JNA 2009 sales brochure that I saved and according to it the Smart Key and Keyless Entry came as standard on the Premium Luxury, but not on the Luxury. If 2kry4 actually obtained a Premium Luxury, it should have the rubber lock buttons on the door handles and he/she should be able to open the locked vehicle by just pulling on the handle with the key fob in a pocket. If not, it appears somebody may have sold him/her a Luxury model. I would check the VIN number with Jaguar to see what they say.

Ok, this makes sense. I assumed it was a premium since it had most of the upgrades. The leather dash and door trims and upgraded sound. But it's all good, I'm still happy with my purchase! Thanks for all your help guys!

You are right. I have two brochures for 2009 and one has the Premium Luxury without Smart Key as standard and a later one where it is shown as standard. Talk about confusing. But in all cases you are definitely correct that the Luxury does not have it as standard and it does not seem to be any option either.

I suspect we have beaten this one into the ground. I am sorry I confused....

The brochure covered all the major stuff for the XF models, but the differences between the models were spelled out in the specification pages near the end.
