FNG to Forum - Just drove home my new (2011) XF
Greetings Jaggers. I am new to the forum as I'm now the new owner of an awesome 2011 "Naturally Aspirated" 5.0L V8 Jaguar XF Premium. I flew from central North Carolina down to Fort Lauderdale to pick it up last week, and drove it 800+ miles back home. This is my 2nd Jag. In 2003 I flew to New Orleans to pick up and drive back a creampuff 2000 XJ VDP, which became my wife's car for the next 5 years. She and I were both previously divorced and that Jag was a bit of a statement to her prior husband. She drove it around for 5 years with the license plate "2BAD4MYX" and got ALOT of attention! It was phenomonal, flawless, and beautiful til the day I sold it. Still miss that car. (She drives an Audi A5 now and still gets alot of attention!)
In all honesty, I've been a BMW 5-Series guy myself since 1998 (had 3 or them) but the time came to replace my current '06 530xi (Manual xmission and Loaded to the max) and I just wasn't interested in BMW's next (F10) generation of 5'er anymore. So it came down to the XF or an "E" or "CL" Class Benz. I live in an area where EVERYBODY drives BMWs and Mercedes and wanted something a little more "individual", so I settled on this XF. Very happy so far. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'll be hanging around more. Here's a pic of my new "Claret Red" XF Prem. My first impression is the engine is PHENOMENAL. I'll report more later.

Congratulations! I can relate!!!!
Hello Jerinold, I can totally relate...I just got out of a BMW and purchased an 2011 XF Premium last month! Can I tell you that I've never been happier with a car! The XF is an amazing automobile and I am now hooked on Jaguars! This is an amazingly responsive car more so than my BMW and I cannot be more satisfied with my car! Congratulations on your Jaguar purchase....I'm certain you are enjoying it as much as I am with mine!

From Grant...
That gear lever issue is probably "junk" in the T Bar gizmo. Lots of moving parts in there to go wrong.
My S2 had a Female metal nail file in there, and that reeked havoc.
Failing that, the cable, and/or the lever arrangement inside the trans.
PO - said he had a second hand box fitted 2-3000 km ago, so my guess is cable / lever inside trans.. But I have no idea.
Goes from P - 1st easy as, and on the way back stops at R... a little force and in to P it goes. Other than that Gbox works as it should.
Should I be worried?
