Front lower grills functional?
I looked closely at the 2 lower front 'cat's eye brow' grills on my 2011 Supercharged. They are functional, with a small radiator behind each.
I seem to remember on my 2010 N/A Premium, these were fake grills.
Am I correct, and what is the function of these 2 small side radiators?

Mine has manuf. date of 4/2010.
Also, in both wheel wells, the front arch plastic cover has these air vent slots, to allow the exhaust of air coming out behind these coolers.
I tend to theorize these coolers are not associated with the supercharger circuit. The S/C has it's twin air/water intercoolers on top.
Therefore, these are probably engine oil coolers. The S/C, and N/A engines both take the same quantity of oil. But the much higher power output of S/C package will heat up the oil and therefore require additional cooling. This is also because the oil is used also for cooling in these engines.

Well, I was at the dealer to fix a first small 'obligatory' headliner rattle.
Nobody at the shop knew the function of the 2 lower small coolers. After much checking, and actually putting the car up on the lift the consensus is: These coolers appear to be connected to the supercharger intercoolers area. Therefore, they are used to cool the I/C cooling fluid via ram air. This means, the 2010 and early 2011 XF S/C, XFR need 4 additional coolers!!!!
can anybody say COMPLICATED...........

My 06 Audi S4 had 3 radiators for a similar reason. Radiators were sized based on the bumper openings (1 large opening and two smaller side ones).

Yeah, the lower air intakes on pre-2012 models fed air to two intercoolers. However, with the 2012 models, they blocked off the left one and put in a single larger intercooler on the right side. Jaguar says that setup is more efficient and more aerodynamic.
