GPS is screwy
One of the many little problems that I discovered after buying a used '09 XF is that the GPS always wants to take me to South Carolina (I live in Iowa). I did change the CD in the trunk; and for maybe a day, it let me enter other destinations into the GPS; but since then, my choices are to go to South Carolina or leave the GPS off.
Is there a fix for this?
I'm about to the point that if one more thing screws up besides what we've had to repair already, I'm saying "Goodbye" to Jags forever.

Did your used 2009 XF come with a manual? If so read it and stop blaming Jaguar for your failings. A previous owner must have lived in South Carolina and naturally set the GPS to search within that state. An Iowan might want to change the setting to Iowa. Click Destination Entry, then Search Area. Sheesh!

The problem is that I did that, and it keeps reverting to S. Carolina. I'm wondering if there is a fix for that.

I know Early 2000 S-Class with nav would do that because of the disc and when you would go off the north carolina and go down it would just fall off the map and not know where you were. Idk if the XF has a disc or update system but you would start from there. Or do a "hard reset" to the system.
In that case you have my apology, I should not have jumped to conclusions. Have you made sure an aging battery is not the culprit? When they first begin to slightly lose voltage random faults begin to magically appear, such as loss of radio memory or seat presets, and not retaining the set search area sounds rather similar.

My 2010 does this too. Seems to stay on "old" state setting for a while and then randomly one day will reset to my current state. No rhyme or reason I can figure out - I just know that sometimes I need that extra step of selecting state first.
IIRC you have a navteq unit, 2 discs for different areas of country. make sure correct disc for your state is in. navteq/HERE is the largest automotive navigation supplier in the world(NOT a JAGUAR product) They have over a million updates last year in north America for roads, sites etc. Is it in my Jaguar XJ, YES, do I use it, No. Google maps in my phone always better and easier. My Garmin In my truck wants me occasionally to leave the road Im on, turn, go down a parallel street for a few blocks then get back on the same road!
Why car manufacturers just don't dock a Ipad in the dash is beyond me. I would clear out all saved cache, memory points etc. reboot battery, select region and state again and see if that works. I remember a ssm on this way back in my memory but cant find it
