Default Great deal on XFR brakes

Found this R1 deal while surfing. Less than $600 for 4 rotors, ceramic pads, and sensors.

Betcha the pads are Posiquiet semi-metallic and not ceramics!
Otherwise that's a great deal.

Just a warning that I have not had a good experience with the Posquiet semi-metallics. They don't stop/bite nearly as well as stock, fade after only a few repeated hard stops, and squeal regularly. About the only positive I can think of is that there is less dust than stock, but if I had to do it over again there is no way in hell I'd get them. Next time i'll be trying the EBC Reds instead.

Well a click of the posted link will clear up your confusion as they are CERAMIC pads. I've been a customer of R1 about 15 years, always a great experience!

I did click on the link Will, I always do, and I still betcha that what you get are not ceramic pads and they are 99% likely to be Centric Posiquiet semi-metallics.
Despite years of searching I have never found anyone who makes true ceramic pads for the XFR other than EBC, and every time I check the Posiquiet site they still don't make them.
Not having a go at R1 Concepts, but I've been caught out buying pretty much the exact same kit from someone else, see here (and earlier posts in the same thread): https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post1454571
Moral of the story - some resellers advertise semi-metallic pads as "ceramic", either being deliberately deceitful or not aware that the pads are in fact semi-metallic. If you do get semi-metallics from R1 Concepts then I would put them in the latter category, ie they believed they were ceramics and have been fooled by the supplier. If, on the other hand, you do get true ceramic pads then I'm all ears!

Well I'm sorry you got burned but that's nothe justification to negatively hijack my thread, as I said I've personally delt with R1 for at least 15 years and 4 cars as they are local to me, only had one issue, which actually turned out to be my fault and they still made it right. Moral of the story, don't knock it till you've tried it, or them.

Big Will - are you buying these? If so, please do let us know if they turn out to really be ceramic. I had same experience as Oz - I bought an R1 concepts set of rotors and posi quiet ceramic pads. But posi quiet say they don't make ceramics that fit the XFR. So we think they are mislabeled semi metallic. But not sure...

Either way mine have been quiet and very low dust. But their bite is not great

I would buy them if I needed them, and people please note EBC also manufacturers brake pads for others as in OEM and private lable. I've never seen R1 advertise Posi-Quiet ceramic pads but I could be wrong.
Where To Buy In The USA - Automotive - EBC Brakes
But ya gotta ask the who what and where before ya buy guys.

Agreed. Here is what I bought. A couple of years ago now.
http://m.ebay.com/itm/Front-Premier-...%257Ciid%253A4

R1 concepts set of drilled/slotted rotors. Appears to be R1 concepts selling it, unless someone stole their handle
And what they describe as ceramic pads - but see the posiquiet box in the photo. Specifically for XFR / SC and fitment was right. I was told they were definitely ceramic. And they came in posiquiet boxes. But posiquiet have since said they don't make ceramic for XFR - only semi metallic.

So I thought I asked all the right questions. Real question is whether there is any way to tell what they really are... any way to tell what was inside the box...

The other give-away is the brake pad part number.
The Centric Posiquiet semi-metallic pads for the XFR/SC are 104.14480 fronts and 104.14490 rears, whereas the Centric Posiquiet ceramic pads for XF Jaguars all start with 105. There are no 105.14480 or 105.14490 in the Posiquiet catalogue or anywhere on the Web.
So check the part number(s) on the box(es) to see what you actually have, and also consider peeling off any part number stickers to see what is underneath, as I did.
