Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone here has the knowledge or can explain how this black magic is tricking me!

So last week my driver side dipped beam stopping working. The LEDS/indicator/shutter (main beam) all work.

I started with the basics - changed osram lamp.
still didnt work.

I then took apart the front of the car and removed both headlight assemblies.

i swapped over the ballast. Not that..

i swapped the full headlight assembly from the driverside and plugged it into the non driver side. The light now works.. so i have proved that the headlight and lamp now work! Progress.

i plugged the good headlight from the non driver side into the driver side... doesnt work again.

ok multimeter out time lets check the feed. Feed coming out the ballast on both sides is 12v but only the LH side works...

now im lost, how can the 12v coming directly into the osram lamp not turn it on??? 🧐

ive tried finding electrical schemes, ive checked fuses F29, F39 and F17 all good.

i disconnected the battery to reset the car.. still no change.

ive used an OBM reader and deleted any codes related..

does anyone have any idea what i can do next? Can the can bus system be somehow turning it off? I also cannot see on any schemes where the field effect transistors come into play?? Im completely stuck and waiting for garage next week but id like to solve this asap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

had the car in the garage today.. they basically rechecked what i had already done but confirmed that my findings are correct.

i have the car booked in again next week. But in the meantime he has told me to check the “body control module” apparently it lives on the driver side footwell RH side behind the trim. Before taking it apart this weekend ive tried to confirm the location but cannot find anything online.. anyone know if this is correct for sure or believe this could be linked to my lighting issue?

 

What year is your car, the facelift has a water ingress issue that can cause all sorts of problems.
