Default Help! Airbag light on

I got a 2010 XF 4.2 and I purchased it as a damaged vehicle and fixed it. No airbags were blown but I found a airbag sensor plug that was broken. I got another OEM plug and soldered it to the factory wiring harness. I've built several salvage cars in the past and was wondering if this caused the airbag module to set a hard code in the module? If so were is the airbag module located so I can remove it and get the code removed from the module?

Welcome to the forum kturner,

The RCM (Restraint Control Module) is at the rear of the floor console. You will need dealer level SDD (System Driven Diagnostics) to interrogate it and clear codes.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

where was the plug located because as GGG mentioned the airbag module is located under the rear console but if its any sensors to do with the pedestrian airbag system that module is located in the driver side footwell near the door. the module shouldn't need replacing just clearing with the sdd software. if you know someone with a garage that has a 3rd party dianostic tool e.g snap on that might do the job or just look into getting a copy of sdd yourself as it quite easy to use to clear codes

Thanks guys for the feedback and I will be sure to intro myself. I took the car over to a friend of mine who works at a Chevy dealer and he scanned it with a Snapon scanner and sure enough it has set a hard code in the airbag module. So I need to remove it and send it off to get all the codes cleared. I just wasn't sure were the module that controlled the airbag was located and from what you guys are telling me it is under the rear of the console.

Has anyone removed the console in there XF? Thanks again for all the help!!

Kturner,

Did the reset work for you? I'm having a similar issue with a 2014 XF that I rebuilt. There was no deployment and I had the module reset but now I'm getting a B0002 code that wont clear.
