Default Any help will be great

Good evening im new here and new to jags. I bought a 2012 2.2 diesel XF. I've had it nearly 2 weeks and it's broke down on me. I put in fuel it said I didn't have any and said fuel pump system fault then gave me fuel. This happend on and off for a few days I knew I had to get sorted the guy said parts £30 on eBay and it would not cause me a problem. I was looking on here for tips and was going to start this weekend. Yesterday it went from 255 miles to.0 started to loose a bit of power and was juddering in gear. I managed to get outside my house and it cut out would start again but cut out straight away I've been given these fault codes:
P0087 fuel rail.system pressure to low
p0627 fuel pump A control circuit open
P250A engine oil level sensor circuit
P115A low fuel level forced limited power
P115B low fuel level.forced engine shut down
I read comments on here and watched YouTube videos and today I have managed to clean the sensors on the intank fuel pump. It started again and had fuel then it went back to zero. Ive ordered a fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator but if there is anyone with any info or tips please can you help a girl out. All the fuel pump access was already open and loose when I managed to get in and the drivers Windows don't work. Have I been done!!! I love the car.

Joanne,

I have no real idea, and being diesel, 'even less, but I believe you will get the answers in the XF (X250) Tech Section.

I will send Norri a PM now asking him to move it for you, so as we say down hers, "have a beer or 3", oops.

This is a great site but US centric, where they never got the diesels.
Try posting this on the UK centric site as well: www.jaguarforum.com where there are plenty. Post it in the section for your car for best visibility.

Joanne, I'm just a Yank trying to help you out and we don't have the diesel variant over here in the states, but I do understand some things about diesel. From the codes you posted and the work you did (with its results), it would appear that you have a failing fuel pump. A thing you can try is to lay on the ground near the fuel tank and if you look at the bottom of the fuel tank, you will see a half moon there (should be around where the fuel pump is). Make a fist and smack the fuel pump as hard as you can. You want to jar the fuel pump. Sometimes this will give the fuel pump a little more life. But, you won't have a lot. So, getting it repaired soon would be recommended if this does the trick.

Another thing you may want to try is to figure out which relay is for the fuel pump. Inside that same fuse block, you should have a matching relay (same ratings, written on the top of the relay normally, will say like 40A). Swap the two relays and see if the car acts differently. If the car starts up and runs without issues for say 10 minutes, then you need to figure out where you put the old fuel pump relay and replace it with a new one from the local parts store to restore the circuit you are now affecting wtih the bad relay.

Do not let the P250A code throw you off. This would appear to be a separate issue most likely as the oil level measuring and fuel pump pressure are only related in that they are both used by the computer that runs the engine.

Thanks I will try what you have suggested this afternoon. I did actually give the pump a little when I managed to get into it I cleaned all sensors/connectors and give it a little jig. I’m hoping when the filter and regulator comes (should be tomorrow) that it sorts the problem out, and I won’t need a new pump(I’m hoping the pumps the worst case scenario) I really like the car I’m just hoping that i can get it back up and running good and I havnt been done. I know a lot of people who have been scammed with cars and garages etc but I thought the guy was genuine and put my trust in him but I suppose Thats what happens with 2nd hand cars, he told me small problems before hand but nothing about the pump, he clearly knew as the unit had been opened previously and not put back together properly and when I asked him about the problem he said it won’t cause me problems it’s the sender unit and it’s £30 on eBay. It got me 200 miles home and then was ok for about 9 days then this happens and have all these other code/faults and little bits wrong within the 2 weeks. I will be so sad(lol) if I have been scammed. I never really looked at jags before but when I found this I thought thats a nice car Ive never drove or had a car as nice.

Well🤞 I have followed all the advise given by you jaguar experts and changed the fuel filter, cleaned and tightened everything pump and battery(I’ll tell you about that soon) related about 2765 times. I order the fuel pressure regulator but still waiting for that to arrive 🇨🇳🙈but so far the cars been perfect for the past 3 days 😍
while I have been investigating(like I know what I’m doing) I've also noticed a “bit” of burn on the fuel pump connector, so I've got one of them just incase the problem does returns i will change the 2 parts and see what happens if needed.

I don’t know how I’ve only just noticed after nearly 2 weeks looking at it but my battery is smaller than the casing it sits in so I've packed that so it’s not moving about it was really loose on one side and tight on the other, after I read the battery can cause problems with other brains in the car. I had disconnected it a few times while trying to solve the problem but hadn’t really noticed the extent of its casing and how the wire was coming away I now know due to movement so so far so good with my car. 🙏
Also
I wasn’t aware of the yellow fuel reset tool either I was actually loosing it when I filled up Ive only filled it. 2xs in the time ive had it on the road the so it wasn’t me who caused it to activate😂the pump was giving me 5p a press😂anyway you guys solved the problem again I bought one off eBay as obviously I dont have the correct battery where the tool is attached. So fuel filling also solved.

thanks again for all your help I really appreciate it and couldn’t of done it without you I would of given up I’m glad i didnt because I’ll say it again….

I LOVE MY JAG
