Default How do XFs start feeling their age?

This might be an obvious question but I wanted to get your inputs. As a car ages and builds milage, what is the driver to expect in terms of driving effects?

I was watching a video on used Stingerz on the market. The guy in the video states he went to many dealerships, drove many of these cars, and has come to the conclusion that the 2018 Stingerz with around 12K miles feel and drive like they have over 50K miles. Essentially saying that the car aged faster than normal and says this is why the cars are cheap. He blames it on the suspension parts wearing out.

With my experience on the XF which I got close to 45k Miles on it used CPO, I felt the car drove really good and I assumed it drove like factory brand new. I had some issues over the time like belt tensioner shaking causing vibrations in the drive for many of my KMs. After that was fixed with the car balanced / aligned the car drives really good still. My belief was that if you maintain the car well and replace the parts that are faulted then it would continue to drive new just like you got it. I do notice the engine take time to warm up now and shifts are not as smooth but once the engine and transmission warm up to optimal it drives near perfect again. Maybe the XFs just have a good suspension?

Mine is 10 years and 65k miles old. Still drives like new. Suspension is perfect (and all original). Gearbox still as fast and sharp as new. Starts, isles and runs perfectly. Great sounds!

Only think I notice is the 20inch wheels bend easily so I have to straighten a couple each year otherwise the ride quality is poor!

I hope I'm not jinxing it!

I was about to ask this same question. I have a 2010 xf supercharged with 140k miles. I’ve maintained it to the highest standards. Car drives and performs as if new. I’m waiting for something big to happen. Headliner sagging slightly in the rear, otherwise, this may be the best car I’ve owned!

140k miles. Love it! So hopefully I have a lot more driving to go!

I just bought a 2013 awd XF (43k mi, $21k for a car that was $68k new) and to me it is new inside and out with wear and how it handles - I think it actually is a better experience that the 2017-18 models I was looking at, and this was cross shopped against a very nice one-year old Mazda 6 for about the same price. I don't know about the internet dude who stated a Kia aged quickly, but I can tell you that the Hyundai/Kia products are very well made and from my experience (Genesis) they do not "age quickly".

With any 4k lb car, I'd expect the front end suspension components will have some wear that could start to be felt, and the ICE of even a four year old car is dated by technology and usability standards, but its not something you'll notice unless you're hopping into an older and newer car all the time.

The fact is that in today's age, any car with <100k miles it is just getting broken in.

One thing I believe happens with most drivers though is you don't really notice performance degradation right away because its very subtle as you drive it every day. Its not until its well worn enough to make some very obvious noise or such that wasn't there yesterday, or it coughs and sputters when you try to pass a farm truck on a rural highway at which point it is officially "broke". Sort of like shaving in the mirror every morning. You don't realize just how old you really look until some pretty young waitress gives you the senior discount without your even asking for it.

This!!!!
Also, I've noticed a number of the window and body seals have degraded. I hear wind noise more and the car fogs up.

Don't forget the leather dash failure. It's coming to them all.
