Hi please if anyone could assist me. So about a 3months ago my 2012 Jaguar xf 3.0 diesel was just cutting of as I was driving. And at one stage it just wasn't starting. So the mechanic said the Fuel filter needed to be changed, changed that....same problem. Then he did some diagnostics...got it started I dropped him home, next day the same story. Now he says its the lume connecting the fuel pump. He came through yesterday started over revving the car for some reason, opened the fuel pump put it back...kept fiddling with the lume. The exact same thing is happening. It's only swinging, and if it does start it switches off right away. And I keep paying him everytime he comes to get it started! I have a feeling if we change he lume he's going to say its something else or is it just me. Please assist me so I'm sure not to call him again if he's just using me to make more money.

 

Reason why he thinks its the loom?
is there enough gas in the tank?

You mechanic can go on guessing the possible cause(s) at your time, expense and increasing frustration OR he can run a Jaguar diagnostic session looking for relevant error codes to assist in more systematic troubleshooting.

There is a TSB about a poor connection to the tank sendor/pump. I thnk there is a small repair loom?
Remove the rear seat & check the multiplug for loose connection!
