Illuminating Silver Dash Buttons

Simple question, I hope, can anyone tell me how to get the Illuminating Silver Dash Buttons to illuminate, please?

The buttons and controls in question.

they come on with the side lights , and the level of lighting is adjusted with the dial down by your right knee on the fog light/boot button switch
