Default Insurance rates on specifically the XF Super and XFR

Hello All,

I've searched the forum for ideas about what everyone is paying in insurance but have not found much when it comes to the XF models. I plan on picking up a 2010-2012 XF Super or an XFR in the next six months and just wanted to get an idea about what you guys are paying.

Thanks in advance!

I am not sure what type of vehicle you are driving now, but it shouldn't be much different if you have a clean driving record.

It shouldn't really cost more than your typical entry level luxury sedan. I owned a G37xS previously and got a XF S/C. I pay 2 dollars more a month for it. Insurance rates also depends on your area.

Forgot to mention, the notion is when you purchase a new car, insurance cost should rise. Must remember, insurance companies take great consideration when it comes to safety (DRL, extra airbags, etc). You might find yourself, on the contrary saving money on insurance when making an upgrade.

My XF Supercharged is about $78/month on full coverage ($250 deductible) through State Farm. It's cheaper than my wife's 2009 Nissan Maxima by $10/month which was a surprise.

$1400 / year for a 2010 XFR with full coverage and $500 deductible. However I have a tarnished driving record with 2 at fault accidents in the past 7 years.

I think you're going to find rates vary widely if you poll people due to age, driving record, location, etc. Best bet is just call your insurance agent and ask for a quote. They will be able to tell you what rates will be.

Cheers,

- Will

Thanks guys!

With the XF Super and XFR being the beast that they are I assumed the insurance on them would be insane but on the contrary. I'm 46 and I currently have a 02 Mitsu Eclipse GS and with a good driving record I'm paying $51 a month. I'm hoping I can keep the insurance close to $100. Now I can inquire with my carrier since I have an idea of what to expect.

Location plays a big part, at least in my area. Not an XF driver, but my insurance was literally cut in half last year when I moved all of 4 miles. Was in DC, now in northern VA. Still somewhat urban, but man what a surprise. I have a clean record. Payments went from $100/month down to $52/month. Geico said it was simply the move that made such a huge difference.

For 2011 XFSC, 2007 Sequoia Limited and a 2,000,000 umberlla I pay $2820 a year I do carry higher coverages though 300/500/500 towing ect.

I had a 2007 G35 sedan previously and paid $2460 a year for it and the others.

The biggest reason for price difference is replacement value. I'm 34, married with a squeaky clean driving record.

Yeah, you guys are definitely right about location. I checked with my insurance company and a 2012 XFR with my current coverage is only $1520 a year. I sure expected worse. I can definitely move forward now and prepare to put either one of these gems in my garage!

I just purchased my XF-R yesterday. I didn't even check rates (insurance or loan). I'm guessing we will burn more money via gas than via insurance. At the end of the day what is a few hundred dollars here or there when you are purchasing such an amazing car? I do think it was very wise for you to do all your homework. I'm just a little impetuous. Would love to see what you end up getting!

Yeah, if I had money to burn then I wouldn't care what it cost to operate this car but since I don't then I need to be honest with myself and know what I'm getting into. Past experience has taught me this VERY valuable lesson.

Hey let us know what you end up with.

Did you test drive the base XF models? You will find them to be a tremendous step up from the Eclipse. The SC models are blisteringly fast, but the baselines may be more than enough.

Cheers,

- Will

Not yet but I think I need to get back to Jaguar and test drive one. I'm sure the power will be plenty especially for the wife. I've already been corrupted by the XFR so it's hard to come down.

Ha ha... yes indeed the XFR is a beast...

The engine noise in the cabin sounds better on the base models though. And they are plenty fast (0-60 in under 6 I think) with better gas mileage if that's a concern.

Cheers,

- Will

Yes, VERY wise. I agree with the base XF. I drove one on Saturday and would have been very happy with it had I not also driven the "R" on the same day. Still a really good looking car and drives great. The main difference for me was the visceral feeling when driving the XF-R. Do I need that feeling? NO. Am I going to drive like a bat-out-of-hell all the time? NO. I don't know specifics but I'm sure the base XF is going to have less operating costs in fuel/repair than the S/C or R. (can anyone confirm, comment on that as I do think that may be helpful info in helping Marcus make a wise, informed and fun decision?)
