Ipod Stays On or Off?
Hello,
Several years ago I had an iPod connected inside my center console until a valet attendant stole it somewhere along the line. I'm thinking about replacing it finally. I cannot remember what the functionality was with respect to the iPod being on and off and maybe some kind of docked or standby mode.
I'm wondering if the iPod, left permanently plugged into my iPod connection in the center console (2009 XF SC), will stay awake for a while once the car arrives home. Hopefully it can connect to the home wifi for a bit and get any updated music or content.
I'm also wondering which folders of the iPod can be seen when I hit "browse" on the Jaguar touch screen. I think it has "Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs" and more but I cannot see past the top 4 on this youtube video I'd found.
Any experience would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have wondered the same about my tune2air adapter is it just the led that stays on or is it something more? With as touchy as these cars electronics are i am unplugging it when i shut the car off.
Thanks for the reply.
If the LED is on then it's probably on. If the tune2air had a battery then that's another story and the battery is keeping it on.
Maybe I can pick your brain a little.
Before starting your disconnect routine, how many minutes or hours later after parking had you noticed the LED staying on?
Also, when using your tune2air via the Jaguar screen can you control the tracks and see what's playing? What about digging into the folders?

I use the tune2air with an android the only functionality is skipping tracks and pausing there is no info displayed on the screen and I do not believe we can access folders I normally just stream spotify.
Boiler, Thanks for the replies. In looking at the tune2air listed on Amazon
it appears that it's supposed to send track info and more:
Of course it does say to use your Apple product so I'm not sure if it's only got that added compatibility that way. I don't think it should be limited because the BT is universal but that's what it's saying. It could also be your app not sending the info.
As far as the power staying live goes I'm going to connect my Android to the USB port for a while and I'll later see how many hours it was live by looking at the battery usage graph in the phone settings.
I hope the power does stay live personally. I don't think the consumption of the ipod would be any issue for the extra large 12v car battery to power for even several weeks. Much less of a challenge for the tune2air. If the power does stay alive then maybe I can have an ipod stuffed away in there and sync content for browsing and listening while the car is on the road (offline). The other thing I can hope for is that if the power from the car shuts off then the ipod can continue on for a day or whatever using its own power to sync offline content.
Read and display entire iPod library from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on car display

"The Bluetooth enabled Tune2Air is not only compatible with Apple devices, but also any brand of Android or Windows mobile phone. You will be able to stream music wirelessly to the iPod system in your car which was originally only designed for Apple products. Controls such as volume and skip track will also be retained on the original car buttons, so you can use the original head unit or steering wheel controls to skip tracks where compatible. As the Tune2Air is used with original in-car iPod kits, it is not possible to stream playlist or album art info from non-Apple phones, but you can still enjoy the same high quality audio from your Android/Windows phone through your original iPod system."

Thanks for that info.
I did a test with the USB connection in the center console. Once you shut off the ignition and close the car door the car touch screen will stay on with the Jaguar logo for 15 minutes. When it shuts off so does the USB port power. I assume the iPod port will be the same way. The cigarette lighter power supply seems to be different and stays off when the ignition is off.
