I don't have any point of comparison but I'll see if I can find a cheaper one. Am I right in thinking the water pump is the same for all XFs and 2010s XKs? This one seems decent if genuine - is there a market for fakes?! Never really trusted eBay for this sort of thing.

One cool thing we have over on the Sports Maserati forum is a list of "alternative parts" - it's saved me an absolute fortune, fitting Fiat and Alfa parts - but only where it doesn't make a difference to safety or performance.

Is there a similar list for XF owners?

I have seen that in teh Saab boards, Especially with interchangeable Ford/motocraft parts (for some cars) The Lower front control arm for instance for a ford Thunderbird 2000-2002 is actually marked .jaguar and available from many discount parts places here in the US

Turns out I misunderstood and the new pump is under £200 from Jaguar so I've said why not, along with the plastic pipes and a rebuild of the snout and replacement coupler. Much cheaper and same outcome. The garage is great (I don't know if I'm allowed to recommend them here), they were flexible and weren't annoyed that I went and did my own research. They also sent videos of the loose chains and the snout, as well as my poor cat sitting in pieces.

Thanks for making me question it, that's been really helpful in directing my research!

Default Smaller top pulley

breezer, you might as well put a smaller top pulley on it while having it rebuilt. Give you a few extra bhp.

Sadly I don’t think my insurer would approve of that! It’s fast enough as it is anyway I reckon.

Breezer I'm also UK based and worried I may need this work at some point. Which garage are you using?

Have they given you a rough ball park cost?

Mine is on 50k miles and I'm trying to decide if I should do the work now or wait a while.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I'm using Nene Jag Specialists Ltd (Nene Jag Specialists - Home). Cost including some other preventative maintenance and a supercharger rebuild (which they outsourced) was £4.5k. I'm really impressed with their service and communication throughout, especially given the COVID-19 situation.
