Impressive run by the XFR but, I have to suspect that something was wrong in the race, either the Gallardo was way down on power or the driver did not know what he was doing. The Gallardo weights nearly 1000 lbs less and has the super positive E-gear shifter. By all expectations it should run away from the XFR.

That would take absolutely nothing away from the incredible performance of the XFR.

I would have to agree with Albert.

But, nice to the leaping cat stretching it's legs out like that.

Gotta love the cat's performance but with AWD and launch control, gallardo should be out there...

I ran the Gallardo a few times but it was a 6 speed. We were dead even everytime from 30-160 MPH. And you all know how much power my XFR makes.

From a 30 mph rolling start AWD and launch control don't count for anything.

But power to weight ratio does.

Hummmm! Maybe the camera guy weighed 400 IBS, That would have a effect.. LOL... And lets not look at what could have been done to the XFR.. He might be running in R-S area.. I'm just say!!!!

I hear ya, but I am running in that R-S area to and I needed that just to stay with the Gallardo, or else he would walk me badly. Something is def fishy about this video.

If I had to make a bet, I'd pick the driver. I have been around fast cars for long decades, particularly Lamborghinis, being on the Board of Directors of the US club for over 10 years.

What I found to be the rule, rather than the exception, was that most drivers would shift way short of the redline, thus compromising the engine power output the BIG way. Lamborghinis are generally short-stroke, high revving engines where the power drops drastically as the RPMs drop. Well, that is actually true for most high performance engines, something I have no doubt you are very familiar with, judging from your signatures.

I remember other Lambo drivers, and even the premier Lamborghini service owner, were aghast at my driving style of keeping the revs near redline for extended periods in my two Lambos when going hard, thinking that such driving would surely damage or kill the engine in no time. Hmmm... never had an engine failure as the result of such driving.

Why couldn't it be possible for alot of things that could have affected the out come of the race? To much weight in the Lambo, Poor driver, a lot of goodies in the XFR with a really good driver. I've seen just this type of combo at a few of the englishtown races.

There could be, but from the looks of it I think the only mistake could have been he was short shifting the Lambo. Being someone who has raced for so long, and have researched the R series of Jags, I have lots of seat time and have ran so many cars from so many different starting scenarios. There is always the "Chance" that R has some mods we have never seen yet, but not likely . Look at the exhaust, looks stock as well.

Yup, I see what your saying, The exhaust does look stock. If any body would know about mods for the Jag, It would be you. I was just looking at all possible angles and trying to help the Lambo driver out with a excuse.

My suspicion is that the filmmakers ran the Lambo a little slow on purpose. "Dramatic license" or the like.

I've driven both. I promise you the Gallardo was not being "run". The gearing is nowhere near that "long", and there is very little chance the XFR could keep up. Don't get me wrong, I love my XFR. It was actually driving a Gallardo which gave me the need for more power (beyond my 05 s-type R).

I am not going to say that it can blow a XFR in a straight line but I would assume that it is head to head (as seen in the ferrari video link below). I have driven the gallardo on the track and it probably a different story on the track.

This guy is racing against a Volvo S40, look at the results - Enough said.

Ferrari Maranello against the older XFR but you can see the results for yourself...

Now that XFR video and 55o seem more accurate. The 550 sucks at shifting or else it would have stayed a head from the start.
