Default Key Fob problems

Hi all,

Quick background. 2009 XF I've had for 3 years. The battery low indicator for one of our key fobs displayed a few days ago. I took the key fob apart, and replaced the battery. I went to start the car this morning, and the driver display says the key fob is not detected. I inserted the key fob into the holding space below my left knee, and it still is not detected. I brought my other key fob out, which still has a good battery, and that one isn't detected either.

I called the dealership, and they suggested I get it towed so they can reprogram it there. Do I have to bite the bullet, and have it towed, or should I try any other methods to get either key fob to be recognized.

Default Have the car towed in for "reprogramming"?

Really seems like trying to fix a minor problem with a sledge hammer. I assume the car will not start. Sounds like the unit that controls that function may on its way out or gone.

How is the car battery? This may sound dumb, but is the battery in the key FOB correctly installed?

I know that you tried the second key with the same result. Have you tried Jaguar "road side assistance", they may be able to get you going again.

Have you got the updated fobs with the stronger back piece?

Jaguar updated these fobs to cure you symptoms. Since the innards are transferred you could ask your dealer to just mail you updated cases for you to field replace.

Default Key Fob Problem

I'm curious what your resolution was. Will you please post how you handled it?
