My 1990 xj6 will not shift the trans light is on car runs great right now I can take it on the freeway do 65 mph at 3100 rpm but will not shift only other lights light on dash are brake light and coolant mixture light what can I do to fix this problem

There's probably a couple of reasons this question isn't getting responses:

1. too little information (1990 XJ6 could be Series III or XJ40)
2. posted in the wrong wrong section for a model-specific tech question

Added to that, transmission issues are about the worst to diagnose!
