I'm trying to find this part that has strangely come up missing after a trip to the dealer. It is the little tray (pic attached) that fits in the center console in the rear of the XF underneath the HVAC vents. I've called a couple of dealerships about getting another one and they claim that there is no part number just for the tray. They say I'd have to order the whole console for $400 just to get the tray. I know its not the best picture, but any XF owners will know what I'm talking about. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

I had a very similar experience recently. While having my 09 in for service, I was given a '12 loaner, and absolutely LOVE the improvement they made in the cupholder insert design. It's simply a rubber insert which unlike many spring-loaded designs that break, has rubber "ribs" that grip the cup or bottle snugly.

So, I ask the thieves, er um, dealer, "how much for just the insert". The response I got was $180, because "you have to buy the entire cupholder/console assembly".

Bull$hit I call. $20 I would have happily paid for a 50-cent piece of rubber... but $180? Um, hell no.

 

Inserts like that arent avail seperatly(yet) that many times changes when cars get older and tata makes alot more things like that avail seperatly. More so than ford, or so ive noticed. Anyway we always take those things out and sell them on ebay. They get about $20 with reserve, you know how those theiving mechanics are
