Default Might have found some answers

Sorry if it sounds like I'm just the bearer of faulty badness, but I believe I've found an answer for the wide array of weird errors and issues I've seen.

To quote from honestjohn.co.uk:
"Very early cars, especially pre-production models used for dealer launches, could suffer a variety of electrical gremlins." - which mine most probably was.

So far I've had the following occur randomly, all fixed by turning the vehicle off and back on
  • Forward Alert/ACC unavailable
  • Satnav option greyed out/unavailable
  • Climate option greyed out/unavailable
It may also explain the random fuel sensor (e.g. suddenly empty tank) issues (I've noticed they do have a lag to them), which would explain why it took longer for the fuel sensors to "fix" themselves.

Now... Does anyone know if there was a recourse to this or if it was just a "live with it" because issues were only ever temporary?... I'm concerned that if they don't remain temporary, I might have a lemon on my hands.

Simon

As for me there was software updates, so these notions should better work after updating.

I had some of these same issues on my 2008 XJ. I simply installed a new battery and keep it on a battery tender if I wasn't going to be driving the car over a 24 hour period. Never had ANY issues after that.

I have a service booked next week so I'll check this with them there.

Us Jag owners love our batteries

This is a new battery, and it is driven more than twice every day, so not likely to be the cause.

HOWEVER if there's an electrics problem that is just a drain in my case it could be causing what you see even though I use it daily. Not sure how you tell if you have a drain though.

Thanks for the input guys.
