Default Mina Gallery Carbon Mirrors and Side Vents (2010)

Got these in the mail yesterday! The mirror caps are not listed on Mina Gallery's site but they are available for 2010-2011 XFs. The side vents went on easily with double sided automotive tape but the mirrors have been more of a pain to install than I expected (mostly my fault). Like the other two carbon pieces I have purchased from MG they are beautiful and were packed very well...the only minor gripe I have is that the weave between pieces is not "symmetrical" (the grain goes different ways on pieces that should match). That doesn't bother me personally and adds to the uniqueness of carbon fiber.

The mirror caps fit perfectly over the existing housings (when you don't try to attach them with double sided tape like I did last night in the hopes of an easy uninstall someday), so I will be sealing them with silicone today and will snap some finished pics when I am done.

Those are beautiful. How much $$ did they set you back?

Those guys at Mina are pros and some of the nicest dudes in the aftermarket industry.

Must shoot post-installation pic!

Will do! Chris gave me a great package deal price on both pieces because I have bought a bunch of stuff from them. Give him a shout and tell him you are on the Jag forums and I bet he will take care of you

The side vents for 2010-2011 are also not on the website by the way but they do still have a few sets of them that they are trying to clear out. If anyone is interested I suggest you call them sooner vs. later

Here we go! First, a shot of the ghetto rig I set up to make sure the carbon fiber stayed sealed to the plastic mirror housing after I applied the silicone. I can do a writeup on the process to save someone a lot of headaches, or just send me a PM if you get these and want to know the easiest way to install them:

A few pics this morning after I had a chance to reinstall and get them cleaned up! (the original shots are high res but there is some haziness that comes through on these photos that doesn't exist on the originals. some of the "cloudiness" in the mirrors are actually reflections from the clouds this morning)

I think it all came out great and they are nice and subtle with the black paint. I think they also compliment the existing carbon fiber louvers and front splitters.

Thanks for looking!

The carbon is very subtle on your car. Gives it a bit of distinction without grabbing your attention. If I had a white one, you couldn't stop me from putting carbon all over it. I love the way the carbon just jumps out on white cars and makes a statement that white never does otherwise. A friend has a Maserati GT and it's white with carbon accents. And white is never my first choice for a vehicle color, so go figure.

I very seriously considered getting these on mine, but I love the Kyanite color so much that replacing any of it seems like a mistake. Still debating on getting the splitter on the front though and having them painted. Do you hit curbs with yours much?

Thanks man! Yeah I love the Kyanite Blue color and you never see them around here, I don't blame you.

Knock on wood I have not hit a curb with the front splitters, fortunately they are pretty thin so don't decrease the clearance really by much at all. I am really cautious when I park and pull up to a curb though, I almost always turn on the laser parking sensors so I know I don't get too close.

Looks OEM + and blends perfectly with the color of the car.

Great work on the install too.

Agreed. Best people I have dealt with by far. And I have dealt with a lot of people.

I ordered those over a year ago, but they never came out right, so had to return them. It looks like he got the design right, now, though, so I'm gonna zap him an email to see when mine are coming. Haha.

Chris said he had the mirror covers in stock, and sguyhould be finishing another batch of vent covers next week, so I'm ordering both. I've been pushing him for a CF OEM-style lip spoiler for over a year, but he said he's still not happy enough with the fit/finish to send me one (he knows I'm kinda picky). But, he said he'll revisit the topic with his CF guys, very soon. If anyone knows where else I can get a CF lip spoiler for under $400, if kill for one.

The problem with CF suppliers is that a lot of their products don't match. If a supplier is inconsistent and still releases a crappy product, his reputation will ruin his business. I admire suppliers that will experiment with key customers but will delay the release of a product to the public until they are happy with the quality. Those are the suppliers that I keep going back to.

Nice! I am very pleased with them. Do yourself a favor though, use the silicone to seal them to your OEM covers. I tried to make them work with thin double sided tape and it was a complete fail. I resigned myself to selling these with the car, unless I can find someone who wants them with black OEM covers ha

Thanks for the advice. I hope I can find a few minutes to install them, one day soon.
