The GF always complains that I don't let her drive the car and all I tell her is she doesn't want the attitude and anger that will go along with anything happening to the car when she is driving it. She knows that it's one thing if I do it, it's another if anyone else does.

How much of a problem this is depends entirely on how hot she is.

You know the old saying...no matter how hot she is there's someone out there that's tired of fu***ng her. And if she wrecked my ride she'd drop a point or two guaranteed.

Hmmm I can sympathise
Its for those exact reasons why my wife doesn't drive my car either.

Ouch - that hurts! But perhaps on a positive note, it appears there's no bodywork damage...

Sorry you had to get "that" call.

none of us like that one... At least it appears to be just the wheel...

Ironically all the comments above are why my wife doesn't want to drive the Jag... She'd rather drive her old car around and not worry about it...

It's just a car, guys. An object, after all. The person, no matter whether male or female, hot or not, is what's important.

You can replace the wheel. You can't replace a person.

(FWIW, my other half drives whichever car happens to be unblocked in the driveway...Pontiac, Lotus, Jag, VW. That's what insurance is for...)

With a few exceptions, car care and driving are generally not strengths of women. There is exactly one time that I ever let a woman drive one of my vehicles and that was when I was a drinker and my wife DD'd us home in my old CTS after an especially crazy night. She is what I would consider a reasonably good driver and in less than two years of ownership of her car she has already scraped her driver side mirror on our mailbox and curbed two wheels. I don't even let her (or anyone else other than me) eat or drink in my vehicles.

I'm on board with Kyanite, I am minimizing the risk of damage to my car by excluding those of the opposite gender from driving it.

So let me get this straight...you're fine with throwing away money in deductibles and increased premiums, not to mention the depreciation and time headaches, just so you don't have to listen to a little bit of complaining that someone else can't drive your car? My theory is like Bigg Will, I'm the only one who pays for it upfront and I'll have to pay for whatever happens to it and take the time to get it fixed, so I'LL be the only one driving it.

Actually, now that I think about it, I have two friends that I allow to drive my car. And they allow me to drive theirs (XF SC and 08 GT500). But it's typically when we are all racing each other or the other person is in the car as well. Been friends with them 30+ years and have always done it with no issues ever. So there's a lot of trust built up.

By the way, can I take your car for a track day? If I wreck it I'm sure the safety systems will save me and it will only cost you the deductible, right?
