Default MP3 Playback Issues

Hello all,
I have the Meridian 800w system installed on a newly acquired car.
I am having issues with MP3 files not being recognised/played correctly by the stereo.
I have tried most things suggested here on this site:

USB is FAT32
MP3s are VBR and 320K or less bitrate
Music is sorted into Album folders

Issue I have is that some files are not played at all and skipped or, even more annoyingly, the stereo will start playing a file and stop at some point in the song with file error. All files play fine on a PC.

I must be doing something wrong or maybe my unit needs a software upgrade or I should use another USB key (USB3?) or convert all files to a standard format ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Mark

Not specific Jaguar tips but you may want to double check the handbook. In other cars, MP3 files on removable media (USB/SD) had to be fixed rate and sometimes the media could be the problem. In theory all USB/SD cards are equal but not necessarily in practice - for SD cards the "type" was important and faster/more expensive wasn't always better. Stick with some named brands like SanDisk etc and try fixed rate.

Thanks for the reply. You may be right. I think it's the Variable Bit Rate that's maybe killing it. I am just converting all of my MP3 to constant right now and will let you know if it worked.
Thanks for the help.

What did you use to do so?

I think I spoke too soon. I converted a bunch but not all worked unfortunately.
I used MP3QualityModifier (MP3 Quality Modifier Download) to modify existing MP3 to Constant BitRate and for FLAC original files I used FlacSquisher (https://sourceforge.net/projects/flacsquisher/) with option -q0 -b320.
Let me have a look at the failing ones to see what I can find.

I had another go. Here's the procedure as far as I see it to get all of your MP3 playing nicely with the Meridian sound system:

USB drive needs to be formatted as FAT32
Run all MP3 through MP3 Quality Modifier with settings: Mode Constant, Rate 320kbps (even if you downloaded constant bit rate MP3
Delete all non-MP3 files like jpg, cue, album art
Run any FLAC files through Flacsquisher with option -q0 -b320

Good to go as far as I can see. Thanks for all the help
