I am asking for advice on a gas tank leak, please.
My 2010 XF Supercharged is in the shop--the technicians can't find a gas tank anywhere (I am in Central , Southeast Texas).
I need a new gas tank or sealant to patch the vapor leaks--the shop tells me that all the tests pass except for the last one--finding a leak on the top of the gas tank.
They can't find a new gas tank or even an aftermarket gas tank....
May I get your suggestions please?
A way to seal the leak, or venders who have a new gas tank, or one that is guaranteed to be safe--the leak is on the top of the tank, not any lines or hoses.

Can you tell me the mechanic you use, or do you do your own repairs?

 

Strange story, why would that gas tank fail if not on any of the seals that probably are replaceable? What makes you sure its the tank and not one of the hoses or vapor return lines? What tests did they run?
I'd ask these questions before you go at swapping that tank - its a beast to swap.
