Default New problem. Courtesy lights not coming on when door opened.

Just today, I found that when I opened my door, the interior lights, door tread lights and outdoor puddle lights don't come on. Nor when I use remote to unlock the door.
They work when I touch the center overhead courtesy light, but the automatic function isn't working. Very disconcerting at night!! A totally dark cat!
Am I looking at another reprogramming issue?? Or is there some default switch I've inadvertantly activated?
I've searched for any relavent thread but no luck unless I'm not using the correct terms.

The usual fix is to push/touch the front centre interior light panel for two to four seconds.

Default Found problem!

Ok this is too funny!! My dog was in the car while I ran into the store and I noticed when I looked back, she was trying to snap at a moth on the outside of the windscreen!! It didn't register at the time but her head had touched the center light. I guess she must have reset the automatic function, something I didn't realize was even possible!! Lol
So I just did the 4 second touch and low and behold, it restored the automatic function!!
I've had this car for four years and I still find something new!!

I think maybe she's been behind several glitches lately!! She has super powers!!! Lol.

LOL, my wife had the same thing happen to her. I just touched the overhead console switch and held it for a couple of seconds which reset it.

I've read a lot about electrical or battery related gremlins in XFs, but never canine related!
Glad you found the problem.
Maybe the pooch should be strapped into the back seat on a short leash?

Funny thing is she clearly hates my XF. Much prefers my XK8! She can see out of it since I did the rear seat delet and spoiled her with a custom 5" thick upholstered foam cushion made to fit!
I guess it's back to the upholsterer to get a cushion made for the XF! Good thing I don't spoil her!
(But frankly she deserves it. A rescue from a very abusive home and the most loyal and loving pet I've ever had. How people can do to a pet what they put her through astounds me. Even tone of voice can send her into panic attacks, and I have to put her in a room when I try to sweep. She literally is terrified by anything with a stick handle.)
