Default Parking brake motor replacement?

Anybody done this before? I did a search and didn't see anything, but I may have not used the right terminology. Jaguar's quoting me $950 to do it, but I see used on ebay for about $200. It just looks like it might be really tough to get to.

Well looking at the service manual, it doesn't call for any special tools but the car has to go up and the drive shaft needs to come off. You definitely need to get the service manual and read though the job FIRST!

Hm... I jacked it up and it looks to me like I should be able to get it out without dropping the drive shaft. I may give that a shot once the part comes. I honestly forgot I had a pdf of the manual (which was dumb).

You might check the S Type section. Since the XF is pretty much an S Type underneath?

It's a SOB.

Good suggestion. I'll take a look around there. It looks like if it doesn't go the way I want it to, it shouldn't be too hard to put it back where it was until I have time to drop the axle. I just really, really don't want to have to.

Try this one.

If you follow the links in the replies in that thread you will find a guy who opened up the motor and took pictures of what fails.

See if this helps??

Thanks! I took a look through the TSBs and such and it looks like they're just doing exactly what I was when verifying it was the motor itself. All cables and components look fine to me. The odd thing is that after I do a reset on it, the brake will work the first time, then it will give an error after it releases and not try again. I'm not entirely convinced the gears are fubar in the motor assembly, but I don't see anywhere else it may have gone wrong.

I'd read the code(s) in the module to see what it thinks is wrong.
