Default Pics of my XF SC while still stock...

The windows are being tinted today, 3M 40% on doors and rear plus the new 3M windshield film, really reduces heat and protects the interior. Vossen wheels go on next week.

Snapped this pic at the tint shop :

I am not too crazy about those factory wheels, but i think they compliment the white well.... Lookin' forward to seeing it with the new wheels on.

I'm not a big fan of them either, hence the Vossens that are on the way! Will post pics once they are installed.

I'm envious... Looks good!!!
I live in NY and tinted by black/black XF S/C with 50% 3M... Done respectfully but still not "legal" in this state. It looked beautiful but as fate has it... last October I'm driving our local road when the county "tint sheriff" and I cross paths... Needless to say, he picked me out of a crown speeding and stopped me because of my tint... wrote me up for everything he could and proceeded to conclude our meeting with that aggravating phrase... "Have a nice day."

Thanks! The tint shop assured me the tinting, including the windshield (I had 3M Chrystaline windshield tint put on it) is legal here.

New York is terrible with tint... I ended up scraping it out because I didn't want to pay the fine and above all... give no further reason to get stopped or singled out over and over. Most cars are already at 70% light passage so anything above that, or the % tint +30% equals legal limits. I see SC is 27% which clearly puts you at a legal limit...

Thinking of moving to a state where I can tint mine... haha JK

I reside in NY as well and i agree the tint laws are horrible. 70% isn't enough to make much difference. It's extremely light, might as well not have anything on the windows.

I live in MD my XF has 35% tint, nothing on the windsheild, looks great. Got stopped in my G 37 coupe that has 20%. The scum bag cop issued a "repair order". Went to the tint shop he has a deal with a state inspection station. The tint shop went to 30% cost to remove and replace $200 (they charge $180 for a regular tint). Inspection station charged zero to "sign off". I got off cheap and still have tints

Believe it or not... if you own an XF your windows are already at 70% from the factory... as are most other vehicles. I've had tint for many years on various cars since 1991 (ironically when NY's tint laws took effect) and have been stopped a total of three times (with different vehicles). Sometimes the intervals are years apart but once a LEO stops you in your local area you can count on getting stopped time and again until the tint is removed... It also leads to being picked out of a crowd ex. Traveling in a group of cars doing 15 +/- over PSL and being the one stopped because of being the only car with tint... I've since removed the tint and will have to deal with it until I change vehicles again (which won't be for a while) or move to another state with realistic laws regarding tint.
