Default Planning on a brake job, is there anything I need to know?

My brake pad indicator came on this week, so I'm probably going to need to address the brakes on my 2010 XFR. Is there anything special about doing the brakes on these cars? I've done a lot of brake jobs, so I'm too worried about the process, save anything that might be strange and Jaguar specific. The car has 37,000 miles and this is the first brake job. Any recommendations on where to get parts? Am I able to have the rotors turned, or do I need to replace them? Will I need to do anything for the calipers?

Thanks for any help!

Probably just the rears wil need doing. The fronts last twice as long, unlike most cars where the reverse is true.

If you are getting 37,000 miles out of a set of Jaguar rear brakes you are exceptionally kind to your brakes. You definitely don't need "performance" brakes so save your money there. Most report half that mileage fom a factory set of rear brakes.

Forget about re-using the discs, the old discs won't last for the full life of new pads.

Factory brakes are very good. If you go aftermarket make sure you buy the best, but make sure you buy the best street brakes as higher performance track oriented brakes will disappoint a driver who drives more moderately as you should on the street.

I'm the second owner, so the brakes could definitely have been done before. I won't know until I break into it.

Then likely the rear brakes have been done once already. The second time the rears need doing then likely the fronts are close to worn out. However, if you DYI then there's no advantage to doing all four a once. Just do the end of the car that needs doing. I'm betting it's the rears worn out again. U

Never 'turn rotors' as a routine part of a brake job. It just machines expensive metal off for no reason.

Agreed. When rotors used to be thicker and pads softer it was routine to "skim" rotors. Nowadays just fit new ones. They make them as light as possible now plus the pads are very abrasive.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I'll probably order parts to do the whole thing and just hang on to anything I don't quite need yet.
