I can't get decent AM reception on radio

 

I have the same problem, but I think it is my window tint. I have heard people complain that some tints are metalized causing poor radio reception in general. My police radar scanner gives off false readings which I believe are due to the tint. I could be wrong though, and you may have a different cause for that. Good luck

 

Same issue - sometimes the AM works fine and sometimes it doesn't - even in the same area. Never found a cause or a fix. Never had an issue with FM. Satellite periodically looses all presets - That is more frustrating for me than the AM reception issue.

I have the same exact issues. I had to abandon my favorite talk show on the AM side because of no reception. When I am desperate, I can Bluetooth it from my phone which has an app that utilizes cellular data sources to receive the feed. I don't have tint or any stickers which could be blamed for the poor reception. I am not sure what tint has to do with it because if I am not mistaken it is that device just in front of the rear glass on top of the roof.

I had this problem with BOTH my XF and XFR and when I reported it both times I had to giggle because of THIS!

I listen to news and sports on AM still.

They swapped my radio out (twice) and it worked fine thereafter. If the radio is properly working it should NOT fade in and out, especially with local stations in the same area. Exactly the issue(s) I had.

 

Maybe as an alternative see if some of your AM station broadcast on HD-FM stations. We have several where i live like KMOX

 

On the lower bands I get static. It goes away when I turn on the rear defroster. Go figure.
