Are the HID lights on the Portfolio only HID for the low beam? or is it the high beam too? Anyhow, both of them suck!

 

Have a look at the bulbs. Bi xenon use one bulb with a moveable shutter for dipped beam.

A common solution is xenon for dipped beam and halogen for main beam.

Agreed - I made the mistake of thinking all HIDs are created equal and was sorely disappointed in the Jag's performance. Bright enough, but they don't throw light very far (ahead or up). The Germans have a nice high arc on their high beams.
