Default Power Steering and Coolant fluids.

So just bought the car and drove 1000 miles. Came back to find out there is a low coolant fluids and power steering. Could I use fluids recommended by a local mechanic like Autozone or should I go with what is in the manual or by a Jaguar mechanic?

As long as the new fluids match the specs for the old fluid (they have some crazy long numbers in the owners manuals to describe the correct spec, and it's not just the weight), you can use the fluids from places like AutoZone -- if they carry fluids that match the specs. Otherwise, buy them at the dealer, or online.

You can top it off if the new fluid matches the spec.

The fact that you lost fluids in these 2 areas is not normal for any modern car. So that's a concern. You may have more work in front of you to find and fix leaks.

+1

It's Specification that's important - not Brand ....... AND fluid loss is NOT normal in a modern Jaguar.

The required Coolant is OAT (Organic Acid Technology) orange complying with specification WSS M97B44. Manufacturers are required to include this information on the packaging and it's widely available in many brands.

The recommended Power Steering Fluid is Mobil ATF320 - a fully synthetic fluid. I would never mix this with any other brand but that's a personal preference more than anything I can back up with sound science.
