Preference on Air Filter brand?
Amen Brother..I seen a scientific report once that K&N actually allows more dirt through than paper media types.....Stands to reason. More air through (which is their claim to fame) means larger openings in the filter media, means more dirt actually gets through.
Were bout's in the USA to you half reside?..Seems you'd make a good neighbor

worst thing about k&m style filters that after they let a ton of dirt in, they get loaded to full capacity. Because they operate on the principle of adhesion to oil. I am amazed how folks dont get that. Also oil cotton gauze is what all old filters were made of, they switched to paper to solve the problems.

Yeah I hear you blokes like us country-western bumpkins out here..and that's a good thing...
RE: Filter Brand...Seriously, There isn't a nickel's or shilling's worth a difference between the two..Both are top quality and I would use either one..WIX is more common and easier to get at our local Auto stores..Mahle filters can be gotten, but mostly at the Dealerships, especially for the Benzs..And they are a little more pricier for that M Label....
So In all good spirit..I have a very good and sometimes warped sense of HUMOR..as long as I know you're in good FAVOR of the same
Cheeers and tallyho and all that rot...Mate

As has been discussed..basically the same filter..
I just added K&N Filters, and .... coincidentally*... I got a P0101 code the next day.
*Now K&N literature claims up and down that all testing has proven K&N filter oil will not contaminate a MAF sensor. I am sure this was.... coincidental.
Anyhow, the code cleared by itself a couple of days later, but I cleaned the MAF sensors with a MAF cleaning spray anyway. And I have to say, wow... the car sure idles smoothly now. Just seems like the engine is running smoother all around. I recommend MAF cleaning no matter what filters you get. Very quick and easy.
BTW, the "quick dry" claim on the spray was not kidding. This stuff dries FAST.

The BMC filters just arrived on the doorstep. Will report back any appreciable difference from stock.
More supercharger wine - yes, ...more power - seems like it...but it could be all mental based upon what I spent on the filters😀
