Default Rear brake wear, normal driving.

Data point for rear pad wear.

My 2009 does not have a rear pad wear sensor.

Rotor spec is 20 mm thick new, 18 mm discard.

After 45,000 km (about 25,000 miles) of "normal" driving (lots of highway miles with minimal braking, lots of winter miles with traction control active) the rear brakes were completely worn out. The pads were down to under 2mm and the rotors down to 18.6 mm.

Not bad. I've seen them as low as 12,000 miles. I saw harder driven cars lasting longer with regard to rear brakes. Don't know why.

Limited slip diffs have been subsitituted by electronic traction control that uses the rear brakes to control traction and wheel spin. This means the rear brakes tend not to last as long as once they did.

Those who use the "full performance envelope" of the car will find the rear brakes don't last very long at all.

Interesting. If this were to occur to a Jag purchased in 2010 or 2011, shouldn't it be covered under the warranty?

No, definitely not. Brakes are consumable parts like tires.

yes under platinum coverage expendible are covered like pads. and for people that do not brake as aggressivly as others. the rear pads will wear faster. I see the same on Volvos with rear wheels that are black like most front wheels from brake dust. Driver/customers I know and talk to that brake alittle more agressivly have normal wear front to rear. But yes. gone are the days when youde replace front pads 2 times to rears once. light brakers= 2-1 rear to front. more aggressive brakers=1to1. just a tech observation over the past few years
