Default Repair or Replace Alloy Wheels

I have neglected my alloy wheels and to get them repaired I'm being quoted £80+vat per wheel. That's for an acid strip and powder coating and I could change the colour.

Had a quick look online and a new set is around £450. So thinking I may as well replace them (now 10 years old) or am I missing something? Just paid £135 each for new tyres, didn't realise new alloy wheels would be cheaper.

What does 450 get you? That sounds cheap. Reconditioned? Could be bent or have been welded.
If you like the style of yours and they are structurally good (not bent, not fractured/welded) then I'd get them blasted and refinished

If yours are bent or damaged, or you don't like the style then get a replacement

Make sure replacement is same size and width or you will spend again on new tyres. And that hub bore, offsets etc work with the car (are they jag wheels or aftermarket)?

I'm with BritCars, £450 sounds cheap for Jag wheels, certainly too cheap for "new" unless its per wheel. The only things I've seen around that price are reconditioned ones and you've got no real idea what state they are in until you try to balance them.

I had all mine reconditioned last year (tho a slightly over aggressive launch by the misses kerbed one of them since) because replacement ones are costly. However if you do find a place that does them at more reasonable prices let me know because I have a minor buckle in mine I'd like to get rid off.

The car has not been a priority since I posted this, seeing as I've hardly used it lately but now the weather is getting better and I'm using the car a bit more I'm revisiting this.

These are what I found online - https://www.wheelbasealloys.com/allo...f/x250/17-inch - there are loads under £500 for a set of 4 wheels. And it says they are compatible with my XF. Just never bought wheels so wanted to check.

The style of my existing ones are fine, I don't think they are bent, when I got the tyres replaced back in Jan I assume Halfords would have mentioned that.

Mine are pretty knackered

Another website with a big selection which state they "Fit Your Jaguar XF All Models exc. SV8 (2007 - 2021)"

https://www.rimstyle.com/alloywheels...7&colour=GBlMB

These all appear to be brand new - are they any good? I have no idea what to look for apart from the style.

Default Alloy Wheel Repair

My preference is to stay with OE wheels. Easier to source if you ever need a used wheel.
I have attached photos of my XF wheels that just got repaired and refinished at a local wheel shop. (~$500)
They have amazing processes that can do repairs to look like new.
All four wheels had extreme curb rash when we bought the vehicle from the previous owner.
Also had paint peeling from the dealer touch up, and other various blemishes.
Very happy with the repairs. The same shop did work on another set of wheel (different car) several years ago and they still look like new.
Hope these photos help.

I have to agree strongly. Stay with your factory rims if possible. Just don't know what the aftermarket ones are made of or how they were made. In US at least the reconditioning and powder coating makes them like new. I also paid $500 to get all 4 done plus you can change the color if you want.
I was very happy with the end result. Changed my XJR rims a bit to a nice metallic satin black.

The rear picture is better.

Not sure I am a fan of black yet or not but I have had them for several years now.
