Hi All
2012 XF S 3.0d going into restricted performance and showing code P006A MAP-mass if volume airflow correlation. Sounds like a whooshing sound from left side of engine as you come onto power when driving but not when stationary in neutral. Any ideas?

 

I believe the diesel engines have an issue with a plastic inlet manifold splitting causing boost leaks and the issues you describe - this forum is generally quite US-centric so less knowledge/threads about the diesel engines vs the UK-centric forums, so you may want to check there for info.

 

Yep, sounds like a cracked inlet manifold. Best to change both sides as the other side will probably go soon too.

Take the engine cover off. On each bank you'll see a rubbery/plastic cover. Carefully peel the left bank one back (not all the way off as they can be awkward to reseat). Poke your finger down the wells where the injectors are & if you find black, oily, sooty residue, there's a big chance it's got a split manifold. Might as well check them both while you're at it.

<EDIT> Didn't you post about this a month ago ? As Dave suggested, you'll get more help for a diesel from the UK based site as the diesel versions weren't sold in the US.

 

I did but it had a blocked DPF which has now been cleared all seemed fine then back into restricted performance
