Restricted Performance and turbo related codes
Hi all,
I've had my Jag XF 2013 estate for a couple of months. It's the 2.2 sportbrake model.
Today on a half hour journey, I had the "restricted performance" warning come up and engine management light. It stayed on the whole way home and I couldn't get above 2500 revs.
Plugged an obd scanner in when I got home and got the following:
P0047 CNF - Turbo / Supercharger boost control solenoid circuit low
P0046 - Turbo boost conrtrol solenoid A circuit range / performance
P259E PND - Boost control position at low limit
Most common causes I'm reading online are faulty turbo accutators or possibly bad battery? The dealer I got this from discovered an earth fault after the test drive which they fixed (this was causing an issue with the mirrors not folding when the car is locked), but they fixed this, and i'm thinking as all the errors are indeed turbo related then perhaps it's not the battery.
Any tips on what I can do next? Not a great deal of mechanical experience but trying to avoid an enormous turbo related bill if possible.
Thanks in advance

I did have one garage confidently tell me that just replacing the actuator would fix it. This is a much cheaper job (somewhere in the region of £300), as the actuator is very easy to get to.
The other mechanic who did the work (a close family friend), said that often if you replace the actuator you will eventually get the same problem before, and that a lot of the time the actuator sticking isn't because the actuator itself is faulty, but because the turbo unit is.
Unfortunately it was £1500 for a new turbo fitted. You could try just replacing the actuator, in some instances this will fix the issue, but then again if it doesn't, your £300 down and will still need a new turbo.
Good luck.
