Default Retrofit XJ or F-type steering

Hi any one knows if it's possible? I really fancy the round air bag design more, and would love to get it done.

I'm sure it is doable. Did you check the price of the wheel you want? I'm guessing this at least $1500 for the airbag and wheel, maybe even $2000.

I swapped steering wheels on my Porsche and it isn't very difficult.

First you disconnect the battery. The airbag should be screwed in place via bolts from the backside. Most likely they are torx, so you'll need a set of torx drivers. The airbag will have two wires coming out of it which you'll need to remove.

Once the airbag is off, the steering wheel should be held on by a rather large nut. On my Porsche it was 24mm, and since I knew this in advance, I bought a 24mm Craftsman socket in advance. In you're case, unless you have a complete set of large sockets, you might need to measure the socket then buy one. There will also be several electrical connectors for the cruise control, radio controls, etc. that will have to be carefully disconnected. Once you remove the nut holding the wheel in place and you've removed all the connectors, the wheel will pull off and you have to be careful to make sure the wires all go through the correct slots in the wheel. Installation is the reverse of removal, as they say. Torque for the nut is around 30 lbs.

I was wondering if this would work myself. I would one day want the XJ wood grain steering wheel on my car, as long as it's doable without messing up the electronics. Let me know how it works out.

Mechanical part is the same, the problem coukd be with wiring connectors for buttons on steering wheel
