Default Rpm and transmission

I have a 2009 XF with a 4.2. I noticed that from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th my RPMs will increase 3 to 400 while shifting. Is this normal? It seems like it's taking a little bit longer to shift maybe because of the weather. I'm going to have the transmission fluid serviced and filter changed to see if that might be an issue. Has anybody experienced this and if so what did you do to fix it?

It sounds like your transmission is slipping a bit. Try scanning the car first and also perform a transmission service if the transmission hasn't been serviced in a while.

Best of luck

Do u use the paddle shifters while driving? If u do thats probably why the tcm will monitor how u drive and will save ur driving style for example if u like holding the gears longer while using the paddles then the ecu will know and will try to hold the gears longer then normal even when in drive to reset the tcm desconnect the battery for 15min

Ended up changing the transmission fluid to Mercon SP. Put a new filter in it as well. The harsh shifting is completely fixed. So far got a thousand miles of perfect shifting. I appreciate everybody's comments and suggestions!
