Default Service and mileage

Hi, my jag would normally be up for annual service now, but due to all the COVID stuff I have only done 3,000 miles, before I might have hit 7,000-8,000. Logically it doesn’t make sense to get the car serviced until at least 5,000 miles, does that sound right? Don’t want to waste money needlessly before it’s actually needed....

Servicing is annually or every x000 miles (depends a bit on the model and year). So yes - you are due service. There isn't a minimum mileage. Fluids age and deteriorate over time. And good to have belts, hoses and other elements checked out too

If you're looking to save the money you can do it very cheaply and quickly yourself if you get the right oil, filters, vacuum extractor etc

Personally I wouldn't skimp on basic maintenance.
