Taking XJL in for 30K service today...
But car only has a little over 23K miles on the clock.
It is a 2011 and the regular service is included under warranty. Jaguar states regular service at certain mileage or "once a year", whichever comes first. And, if you don't do the service at one year (provided you have not hit the mileage limit) you lose the remaining free service under the warranty. At least this is what we were told...which is why I am taking the car in.
At the rate we are driving it we may hit the need for the 40K service before we hit 30K miles, or be shortly past 30K miles...
I have to pay for the service on my XKR. They call for service every 15K miles or once a year. Does it really hurt to go past a years time if you don't drive the full mileage recommendation for a service interval on the XJL?

I truly don't think it hurts anything to drive longer than a year if you do not exceed the specified service mileage intervals. I used to have a company car with a V6 American built engine and for all the years I had it it never received any service. For just the fun of it I kept adding oil when needed and was curious how the car would hold up on the long run.
The brakes got eventually replaced when the steel brake padding wore grooves into the disc but, nothing else.
I turned in the car for a new one at 114K miles and it was running perfectly. Folks, don't do this to your car but, it indicates that the yearly recommended service is nothing but a reference mark on the calendar. Of course, if you do not look at your car's vitals every once in a while you SHOULD have someone else do so, thus is the recommendation for at least once a year.
I just had my yearly service on my XJL at 8600 miles. Do note that you can have them reset the software to allow you to use the paddle shifters in D mode. I had that done.
My wife's XF will be due for the one year service next month and, I think that it may have less then 2K miles on the odometer. Probably do not need any service but, will take it to the dealer just to keep the warranty going.

Does anyone have this update on their pre-MY2013 XJ?

Mine's just had it's first service, 15,000 miles or 1yr, at 1yr (3,300 miles)
