All,

Joined the forum awhile back when I started looking at Jags as a possiblilty for my next car. Loved the look of the XK, but in the end wasn't practical for me as a daily driver. I am picking up a 2011 XF SC, ebony/charcoal next week! and will soon be officially a jag owner!
Drove Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and Jags. In the end the XF won out as the best sport luxury car that fit what I was looking for. Hopefully, she'll pan out as all my colleagues drive the German brands (as do I currently). Looking forward to it.

Was wondering if Jag has any break in rules as the car is essentially new with around 100 miles on it.

Thank you for the info to date.

There were no break-in instructions with my 2012; however, it would probably be wise not to do hard braking for few hundred miles until the brakes wear in nor engage in full throtle or high-speed maneuvering until the mold release compounds wear off the tires.

Interesting, no break in rules. BMW's (5 series anyway) is to vary the throttle, not exceed a certain rpm, and don't go WOT to 1200 miles.

2009 had specific break in rules for the engine and for the differential. Check the Owners Handbook carefully. Even if there are none it is wise to drive gently for 1,000 miles. The tires, brakes, differential, transmission and engine will benefit. It is wise to vary engine rpm and load for the first 1,000 miles. Use an artificial red line and phase in full rpm running. Use full throttle only occasionally and for brief periods at mid range rpm as you brek in the engine. The 5.0 engine may be run in at the Ford engine factory in Wales but I doubt it.

I went and double checked all the info and handbooks that came with my new 2012 and there are no break-in requirements listed or discussed. Unless the 2011 S/C is different, I suspect you will not find any either.

I will ask the dealer about break-in as well as read the manual. Thanx for the comments to all.

Macc24, thank you very much. I was saying to myself, can't wait to start a similar thread.
I was originally going for 09, but after test driving few of them, i decided to wait and go for a 2011. That's why it's been taking so long. But, will have the XF before month of July runs out.

Try looking in the owners manual under "Running In" in the 2011 XF maual it is on page 147. Gingerly for the first 1,500km (940 miles) ...then gradual increases up to 8,000km (4,975 miles).
