Soon out of CPO coverage...Extended warranty options
CPO coverage on my 2012 XF (48K Miles so far) is getting over soon.
Need to look at some options for an extended warranty. Anyone shopped around lately for an extended warranty?
Searching older threads gave some options like Fields jaguar in Waukesha Wisconsin, Costco's Program ( They no longer have this)
Anything else? Thanks folks

Anyone used https://www.carchex.com/ recently?
There are less pricey plans where most of the major components are covered but I would prefer a exclusionary kind of coverage.
Their top of the line exclusionary kind of plan which covers everything except typical cosmetics, trim, wear & tear items etc is expensive. Additional 6 years or additional 48K miles with $200 for each visit will run around $7K. $500 deductible for $6.4K etc
Any Component listed in the section entitled “What Is Not Covered”
Any equipment when not installed by the manufacturer
Anti-theft systems
Battery
Body Panels
Bolts/Nuts/Fasteners unless needed in conjunction with a covered repair.
Brake Lining and Brake Pads
Catalytic Converter
Coolant Hoses and Drive Belts
Drums and Rotors except when damaged by a covered part
Exhaust System
Glass and any treatments or chemicals related to any glass
Lenses
Light Bulbs
Manual Transmission Clutch components
Moldings/Weather-Strips
Paint
Passive or active safety and restraint systems, and any sensors and/or components related to those
systems.
Radio/speaker equipment
Recreational Vehicle equipment
Remote Controls, Key Fobs or Keyless components
Sealed Beams
Sheet Metal/Bumpers
Shocks and Struts
Spark Plugs and Wires
Suspension Air Bags
Telephones, Satellite Services or Systems
Televisions
Tires/Wheels/Wheel Covers
Trim
Upholstery/Convertible & Vinyl Tops
Video Entertainment and/or Gaming Systems
Wiper Blades

This has been 5 years ago, but I got a 7 year(from the date of my purchase) up to 100k total miles (about 66k miles worth of coverage) with no deductible at a Jag dealer for just under $4k.
My point is that unless something else breaks in the next 2 years, they will have received more $$ than they have paid. I think I will just barely get more value out of the plan than I paid. But $7K? I'd just put that in the bank as a repair fund and find a good indy shop. Because you also have to remember that they can deny coverage and then where will you be?

I called CarChex for a quote yesterday, they told me $4900 for titanium (highest package) for 2 years 20k miles (but the website said 36k miles). Platinum package was only $100 cheaper
I felt that was too high, especially since my buddy with a 2014 BMW M5 with 50k miles just got 3 years for $2800.
im going to wait, he said they quoted him high at first too ($3500), called back the next day and gave him 2800. Hopefully they call back

Geez, just change your all your fluids regularly, and check your engine oil level regularly, stay away from dealers, and you'll find it really hard to spend more than $5K in 2 years on repairs that an extended warranty would have actually approved. They often try to wiggle out of covering repairs.

I'd tend to agree. I got the Jag CPO on mine when I bought it used 5 years ago. Over the 3 years that CPO covered I got a water pump and a power steering pump. So given the $3k I paid for the CPO I would have been much better off putting it in a maintenance savings account. But - at least the car is reliable!

Sounds like you did good on the price.
For anyone else.. try Red Sheild. They have been good with my girlfriends Cayenne S. Also.. while I was getting CPO (only 5 months left on CPO) work done on my XKR at dealer, I noticed they were offering Red Sheild too. My trusted advisor buddy had good things to say. I’ll be getting a quote in 5 months.. but I tend to work on my own stuff after the factory coverage is up.
For reference.. my GF’s Cayenne is a 2011 and had 60k miles on it. They gave her a 2 year 40k mike warranty for $2700. The highest level they offered.

Gathered from other thread that carzaddict got a deal from carchex for 2yr/20k miles for $3k....titanium package but not covering nav/backup camera. Thanks carzaddict for the update
I haven't decided yet ...What I gathered is that Credit Unions gives some decent plans to their members even if cars are not financed thru them. This plan called Members choice by CUNA Mutual group has multiple choices for Platinum, Gold, Silver with choice of deductibles, I am interested in these two these plans
4 year 48K Platinum $250 deductible $4,222 including tax
4 year 48K Gold $250 deductible $3,000 including tax
Platinum covers everything (including GPS, heated/ cooled seats, keyfobs, tpms, etc etc) except wear and tear items and trim, upholstery, paint etc

Called several companies, then contacted USAA and while I keep hearing that they are the best. They quoted me $4600 for ONE year or 12,000 miles!!!
Sorry but thats a bit rich for my blood so looking at other options.

Honestly for an 8 year old car with over 100k Miles I'd be surprised if you can find a warranty that's a reasonable price. Repairs are expensive on these cars and they will carry high risk. You would be better off putting a few thousand dollars in a savings account for maintenance and hoping you never need to use it...

I purchased Carchex Titanium and they paid for most of my repairs. Be sure to check the terms, as the warranty I purchased through them use the value of the car at the moment of the repair needed. They added up how much the repairs cost Carchex all together from the day I purchased the plan. They then looked at the NADA value of the car at the mileage I was at, at the time of repair. If the cost of repairs in total (from day 1 of your plan) exceed the cars worth, the extended warranty is then used up even though I still had time left/miles left on extended warranty. Also called an aggregate limit. I had 9k miles left and 6 months when I hit the aggregate limit. Lots of extended warranties do this, not just for vehicles. If this is in the terms in the agreement they offered, Just make sure your car's NADA value and the price they offer your for the warranty/what it covers makes sense to you.

Set aside a fund of your own money of $5-8K for any unexpected repairs and proactive maintenance (the key to not spending a lot on these cars), and you're still saving about $55K.
If you spent all your money buying an 8 year old, 100K mile Jag, and you don't have anything left in the bank for repairs, you're screwed and you never should have bought the car.
