Default Splitting gearbox from engine

I have a SV8 and I'm in the process of replacing my engine after a rod snapped and went through the block. I have got the engine out with the tranny still attached. I have undone all the bolts and the 3 torque convertor bolts, but it just won't split. I'm guessing it is stuck on the dowls. I'm thinking of maybe heating it up with a blowtorch by the dowels,is that the best approach? Will just a propane blowtorch be hot enough?

As all the components are aluminium- which conducts heat very well- you might be there for a month with a propane torch before you get enough heat to make a difference. I'd be checking and re-checking that you have everything disconnected, then looking for somewhere to get a prybar in.
