Default Spots on Speedo/Instrument glass

Hi All,

I recently took delivery of my Jag, a 2013 5.0 Supercharged, and decided to go the Jaguar Certified route.

The car had a few minor issues which the dealer is taking care of, as they should. But one of the things I noticed when driving it at night, is the speedo glass appears to have a lot of spots.(Similar to water spots). After looking closer and talking to the local detail guys, we determined they are on the inside. Significant enough to where it's more than a bother.

So the service manager at my dealership just informed me, that this is a known issue, and Jaguar has sent out a bulletin stating they will not fix this. If it were on the outside, I could see it, but the inside? If this turns out to be the case, I'll go to the mother ship and be the squeaky wheel. But has anyone else had this issue, and does anyone have a link to the bulletin? I cant seem to find it.

Thanks

Sam

Are you 100% sure they are not snot spots from a cough or a sneeze?

If the spots are indeed on the inside, and IS a known issue, then I would raise holy hell with JNA, and insist on a cluster glass replacement.

I wondered the same thing, and they are definitely not boogerage. The dealer said they would split the cost with me ( Guess again sparky ) so if they don't concede I'll be on the phone with JNA. They can split the cost with the dealer as far as I'm concerned.

Stick to your guns..I did on the 4th year oil change issue on my Platinum Coverage and they sent me $400.00 worth of gift certificates to cover my next service, plus.

If someone is relying on a written bulletin as an excuse,
I usually insist on seeing that bulletin.

Update:

Called Jag NA, and lo and behold, they're going to goodwill the fix. Fuc#$!* dealers. So much for the quote " Jag will absolutely, unequivocally, not good will this". It also took the dealer over a week to return calls to the mother ship.....Needless to say, Jag NA was less than thrilled about this.

I suppose just as a zebra can't change it's stripes, some car sales folk simply cant stop being turds, regardless of the brand or cost.

All it takes is one or two dick-head dealers to ruin a feeling of pride for the Brand...Is this dealer in La Jolla?...that is kind of a snooty area of SoCa.

The dealer is in San Diego, but not La Jolla. Had that been the case the push-back may have been non existent, as it is indeed a bit snooty and more demanding. However the dealer also sells Aston Martin and Lotus, so the demographic would seem to indicate a heightened level of customer service. The Sales manager made the call initially and is a bit of a wannabe - semi-effete turd (Kind of reminded me of the Maître D' in Ferris Bueller) . My sales guy was great and went to bat for me on a couple of other things without hesitation. Hopefully they get a bit of a wake up call from this and step it up a bit. I'd of thought CPO would have been high enough on the spending chain, but in the Sales Managers eyes, perhaps not.

I think I see the problem...you should have told him you were Abe Vroman, the sausage king of Chicago.

And DPK, you can't say dispariging things about where people live. Remember what happened last time!

Update: The dealer never called me with an ETA, so after leaving a message and not getting a call back two days later, I called them again. Seems the part is back ordered. So, once again, I get on the phone with Jaguar NA in hope of expediting the part.

Well, they get into the parts system, and cannot see anything. Which means they have to make an inquiry, IE - more waiting. This was on the 27th.

So today - get a call. The part will be on the shelf in the UK on the 7th. Then it's another two weeks transit time to the US, then of course scheduling the work to be done. All this for speedo glass? Seriously? I'm hoping this is not SOP, because it will be over two months start to finish by the time this is taken care of, and I'd hate to go through this with a mechanically required part.

Bummer!..The two weeks of transit time seems like a little bullshit..I was on an old non nuclear Aircraft Carrier and it only took 8 days to cross the Atlantic
