Default Steering column

I received a 2010 XF as a loaner car and was impressed with how quiet the adjustment on the steering column is. When I adjust my steering wheel on my 2011 XF, it makes a noise (clicking). Is it required to oil the steering column when it does this?

My 2011 is very quiet. Talk to your dealer.

I observed the same difference between a 2010 SC and the 2011 XFR that I tested and bought respectively. The XFR is quiet when going through the entry/exit motion but when adjusting further, it does make more noise than the SC column did. I am not overly worried - it is now adjusted for me and my wife rarely drives it, so it won't move much. Maybe there is a difference between the 2010 and 2011 mechanism?

Just take it to the dealer, it sounds like a warranty issue.

Not sure if this is what you are hearing but my 2010 XF was recalled to repair a "faulty column" which GROANED when telescoping. No recall# listed but it would be easy to track through your dealer.
