Steering Column Adjustment Flap Rattle
I did a search and didn't see anything as specific as this, so I thought I'd post...
I've got a rattle coming from the flap above the steering wheel column of my '11 XFR (see attached stock photo for specific location). The flap is on a spring hinge and is there to cover up the space under the gauges when the steering wheel is raised or lowered. I've asked the dealership (Hennessy Jaguar in Buckhead - Atlanta, GA) to fix it three or four times, yet they have yet to do so. Not sure why it's so hard, considering all I have to do to make it go away is barely raise the flap off of the steering wheel column while I'm driving, so it's clearly coming from there. What's funny is that they just replaced my entire steering wheel due to the steering wheel heater failing to work, yet they still didn't fix that annoying rattle. At this point, it's not so much the car as the dealership which has me getting pissed off. I'm about to just put a black rubber spacer under the flap or something, because it's driving me nuts. This issue and several others have been mentioned every time I take my car into the dealership, and they always tell me that they've fixed everything. Yet, 10 minutes later, as I drive back down the road, the same issues pop right back up. Grrr...
Anyone else notice this phantom flap rattle? If so, did you have it fixed and can you tell me exactly what they did to make it go away, so I can then relay this information to my dealership? Thanks.
