Default Suggestions appreciated..!

Hello everyone,

I own a 2015 XF Sport, with the 3.0 s/c V6. So far, I’ve replaced the stock exhaust with the Mina catback quad tip exhaust, replaced the stock rear diffuser with the XFR style diffuser, did a central resonator delete, and just recently I went in for a tune at Eurocharged Houston. I’m currently looking on getting an aftermarket supercharger pulley, as well as a new intake. Any suggestions on reliable companies for these? I was thinking of also getting the pulley from Eurocharged, as they wrote my tune with the intention of getting this pulley put on soon. In regards to the intake, I have no ideas here.. Also, any other ideas on mods that could safely add a bit more power? Are these s/c 6’s capable of producing that amazing pops and crackles sound somehow? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Appreciate it guys

Recently bought the same, 2015 XF Sport and have not done any mods yet as I am still in warranty, but I too am very interested in what works, and what doesn't.
Spent the last ten years playing with an '05 Mini Cooper S which I carefully modified over time, it's a rabbit hole.....Some things are immediately gratifying, others are a waste of time and money.
One thing you eventually learn about pulleys....It is quite possible to spin the SC up fast enough to become inefficient at higher revs, not to mention creating more heat than your intercooler can really cope with.
One thing leads to another, but I too would like to see a bit more power from the engine as well as a more Jaguar like exhaust note. I love the car, and would love to hear from those who have done the mods just what really made a difference and what didn't.

Paul,

I am in the same boat.. I also have a warranty, but I am down to my last 10,000 miles on it. Kind of just said screw it, lol.

In in terms of what I have done so far and the effectiveness, I’ll say the below:

After market rear diffuser - I purchased a cheap version of the XFR diffuser on eBay, and got it shipped over from China. Cost me about $160. I got this thing in and re painted it myself with a sort of high gloss black, and it looks amazing. Was a better option to me than spending $600+ on something that wouldn’t necessarily be any better. I’ll get photos soon.

Mina catback performance exhaust- This was absolutely worth the $925. Took about a week to come in, and man does it make a difference. I read up a lot on the aftermarket exhausts for this model, and this one looked the most interesting to me. I didn’t want a screaming/loud exhaust note, but a deeper/more subtle growl. This system gave me exactly that. I’ll get a video up soon. Sounds great while cruising, and sounds brutal when you step on it. Adds some pretty cool crackles as well when I hit about 6k RPMs in 1st gear.

Eurocharged Tune - Got this done 3 days ago, and it’s freaking amazing. After looking at all the different tuning companies, this one has great reviews and reliability. Their tune completely got rid of lag when shifting - the throttle response now is so good compared to stock. Went from 350 hp ( +10 from Mina exhaust) to about 400. Will add another 30-35 hp when I get the pulley installed from these guys. Also, Eurocharged offers warranties that no other tuning companies do. If you need to flash your ECU back to stock for any reason, they’ll do it for $35.

Resonator delete - this one I’m 50/50 on. Sounds a little raspier/more aggressive, but at the cost of slightly louder drone. I’m going to go back in soon and add an X-pipe to see if that’ll help at all... was $80 for the resonator delete.

Also added the chrome tail light upgrades and pedal upgrades from Mina Gallery. I like them, but to each their own..

Thanks

Howdy!
Thanks for the info.....I will have to look into that Mina exhaust, it sounds like exactly what I want. I don't really need loud, just a bit more evidence that the motor is running! Having grown up on six cylinder Jags the only real disappointment with the XF is the sound, or lack of it. The Eurocharged tune sounds like it could be well worthwhile too... A bit more urge is always good and I have no doubt that the engine is well capable of a happy life at around 400hp.

I went through a umber of intake set-ups with my Mini, settled on the Dinan airbox as it was legal in California, where I then lived and was very well made.Gave a bit more SC whine and perhaps a bit more airflow, but it's the throttle body that counts in the end.

One thing I am curious about is the closed mesh side vents up front on the XF Sport...I see that they are open mesh on the more powerful variants and wonder if it's worth switching them out and trying to find the air
deflectors to the brake discs. It just bugs me that they are not functional, but we'll see.I will have to look at the XFR-S diffuser too, I had not realized it was that much different. Good fun!

Paul, just to show you the rear diffuser. Pretty subtle, but looks much more aggressive than the stock diffuser. Sorry about multiple posts - doing this from my phone and I couldn’t see where to comment on the photo... 😁

Very nice indeed, and yes, it is certainly more in keeping with the nature of the car.I like the quad exhaust tips too.Hmm.

Does anyone know the difference in sound between an x-pipe and an h-pipe? Not sure which to use when I go to the shop soon here.. keep in mind it’s a v6, so I really want to try and steer clear of making this higher pitch than it currently is..

thanks!

Cody, see this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...needed-213855/
To repeat I recommend against an X or H pipe on the V6.
On the V8 an H-pipe results in a more "refined" or "exotic" sound compared to an X-pipe which results in a deeper and more "muscle car" exhaust note, but I don't know if that also holds true for the V6.
Disclaimer - I had an H-pipe fitted to my old XFR as either an H-pipe or X-pipe was needed before the XKR-S tune I had put on would "stick", and I went with the H-pipe over an X-pipe on the recommendation of the exhaust specialist I had used for many years.

Decided to go ahead and try the x-pipe. Was going to have it put back if I didn’t like it. Surprisingly, it sounds very good! I feel like it gives a slightly throatier sound, and it’s a bit louder at higher rpm’s as well. Didn’t make it higher pitched either. I’m not sure if I’m just imagining things, but I think it fixed the slight drone problem I had with just the straight pipes there before. I’ll try to get a video soon when I can find somewhere to make some noise without irritating the neighbors... 😁 also, just ordered mina’s aftermarket intake system. Spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Chris over there, and he is an extremely helpful/nice individual. I’ve ordered a few things from him now, and he even helps out on the price a bit. Should have this intake installed by next week, as well as Eurocharged supercharger pulley.

Excellent! I am following your adventure with the greatest interest as the stock exhaust is just not living up to the rest of the car...Now that the snow has cleared I have been getting the chance to put the boot to my car and it's great fun, but for the sad exhaust note. I salute you fro going out on the ledge in front of me!

Hey guys, just took a sound video yesterday. Here’s a short clip of some revs...

This is with the Mina exhaust system, Mina intake tube, Eurocharged supercharger pulley, and the Eurocharged Tune. About 450 hp.
